It’s so difficult, isn’t it, to find time during our busy lives to schedule in a 10 day period where one can go without dining out and my 10 days is beginning on Monday. If you’ve been considering doing it, here’s the diet.
The Master Cleanse Recipe (single serving)
2 tablespoons fresh-squeezed lemon juice
2 tablespoons grade-B organic maple syrup
1/10 teaspoon cayenne pepper
10 ounces filtered water
The plan calls for six servings of the above recipe per day for 4-14 days, however some people will stay on the cleanse for 30 or more days.
Another part of the Master Cleanse is a “salt water flush” which consists of mixing 2 teaspoons of salt in a quart of warm water each morning. In addition to the “salt water flush,” a laxative tea at night is also recommended as part of the cleanse.
Side effects of the cleanse include dizziness, fatigue, diarrhea, constipation and nausea. Please contact your doctor before participating in the Master Cleanse, or any long term juice cleanse.
Yolanda has notes about her strategy here:
////////////////U P D A T E////////////////
I survived the 10 day cleanse and I must say that the first 3 days were the most difficult…we are so conditioned to browse the fridge, aren’t we? When I finally realised I was bored without the joy of cooking (yes, I love to cook and find the kitchen a large family gathering spot), whenever I would feel particularly purposeless I would go for a brisk walk through the park. (Dana, the Great Dane loved it because we went so often).
By the fourth day there seems to be a rhythm to the cleanse. You’ve forgotten all about food by now and feel quite full most of the time. The trick here was to continue to remain busy. Fortunately I had one travel day and 2 days of busy meetings so I was preoccupied.
It feels so good to be realigned again and I hope you enjoy your journey. It’s not easy, but you will feel remarkably better!
